RIVERSIDE --- In its first season eligible for the national rankings, California Baptist University men’s cross country has been tabbed No. 24 nationally in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Preseason National Coaches Poll.

The Lancers are the highest ranked PacWest team in the poll after winning the conference title last season. CBU also checked in at fifth in the regional rankings released earlier this week.

Defending champs Adams State took the top spot in the poll, grabbing all eight first place votes from the committee. Western State and Augustana rounded out the Top 3, while Chico State checked in as the highest ranked west region team at fourth.

The Lancers have won back-to-back PacWest titles and will now be eligible for NCAA Division II postseason competition after completing the three year transition process from the NAIA.

The CBU men and women open the season at home on Sept. 7, hosting the Lancer Invite at Rancho Jurupa Regional Park. Race time will be 9 a.m.
