RIVERSIDE --- A crowd of nearly 150 university employees gathered Monday afternoon to celebrate California Baptist University’s completion of its three-year NCAA Division II membership process.
The NCAA notified CBU Friday it had successfully completed the process and are now full members, eligible immediately for NCAA postseason.
Dr. Micah Parker, director of athletics and Dr. Ronald L. Ellis, CBU president addressed the room with congratulatory remarks and thanked everyone for contributing to the process.
“Everyone on this campus had a part to play in this three-year process and for that we thank you,” said Parker.
CBU has been a member of the Pacific West Conference for the past two seasons but could not compete in the NCAA postseason. The Lancers won 10 conference championships in two years, including a conference-record six in 2011-12, winning the Commissioner’s Cup, which is awarded to the top overall athletic program in the 14-member conference.
