RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- California Baptist University Head Coach Kristen St. Clair will bring in eight new players for the 2013 class. 

This versatile group of recruits includes defenders, midfielders and forwards, as well as a few that can play multiple positions, and comes in with a plethora of accolades at the prep level. The eight player class will join a CBU squad that went 18-2-1 last season, winning its second straight PacWest title.

“I’m very excited to introduce our incoming 2013 class,” said St. Clair. “This is a versatile and dynamic group, all with the ability to contribute right away. The incoming players will complement our returning players very well as we look to compete for the PacWest and NCAA National Championships in 2013.”

Angelique Carrillo – Carillo, a 5-5 outside back comes to the Lancers from Steele Canyon HS in Spring Valley, Calif.  Carillo was named All-CIF Division 2 first team and Grossmont Hills League Player of the Year during her senior season. Carillo also prepped three seasons in track and was All-League first team as a sophomore and junior.

Jonnie Castro – Castro, a 5-2 left back comes to CBU from Westerville North HS in Westerville, Ohio.  There, Castro was OCC Special Mention & Defensive MVP, while also being named team captain her senior season.

Chaylin Couzens – Couzens, a 5-7 midfielder and forward joins the Lancers from Yucca Valley High.  Couzens set several conference and school records including becoming the all-time YVHS leader in scoring as a sophomore with 45 goals.  Couzens finished her career with with 101 goals and YVHS record 46 assists. 

Alina Broton – Broton, a 5-9 midfielder and forward attended Rancho Bernardo High School in San Diego, Calif. Highly experienced, French-Broton  started all four seasons on varsity and reached the CIF semifinals during her freshman and junior seasons. 

Kailey Nishimura –
Nishimura will join the Lancers from St. Andrew's Priory in Honolulu, Hawaii.  There the 5-0 midfielder and forward was an ILH All-Star Honorable Mention.

Jasmine Stokes –
Stokes (5-6) played several positions including forward, striker, midfield and defense at Palo Verde High Magnet School in Tucson, Ariz.  Stokes was an offensive juggernaut who scored 51 goals as a junior and senior.  She broke the Palo Verde scoring record by finishing her career with 137 goals and 29 assists.  As a junior and senior she was named Division III Player of the Year and was a Southern Arizona All-Star first team honoree.

Isalei Tauaese – Tauaese, a 5-4 midfielder and defender joins CBU from Serrano High in Phelan, Calif.  Tauaese earned Division 3 All-CIF Team recognition as a junior and was named MRL Conference first team during as a senior.  Tauaese enjoyed a successful career while going undefeated through the MRL Conference during her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. 

Rachel Witz – Witz is another midfielder and forward and stands 5-2.  She joins CBU from Temecula Valley High in Temecula, Calif.  Witz was Sounthwestern League All League first team as a junior and senior and is the sister of current CBU player Bernadette Witz.
