EL CERRITO, Calif. --- California Baptist University closed out the final day of the PacWest Championship in much the same position it started the day, finishing in sixth place with just a one stroke difference between its two round scores.
CBU shot a 362 on the brutally hard Mira Vista Golf Course Tuesday to finish at 723 for the tournament.
“This was the first time our girls have played in a conference championship and now we know what it takes to be successful,” said CBU Head Coach Lane Pace. “We have a tough conference that will be competitive each year. We just need to carry the lessons we learned going into next season.”
Playing in her final collegiate tournament, Samantha Peters led the Lancers with a 169 (84-85) for the tournament, finishing in a tie for 15th place individually. Peters’ performance earned her All-PacWest third team honors.
Kirsten Keyser shot 183 (88-95) for the tournament, Katherine Pimpanit finished at 185 (90-95) and Kayla Jech had a 193 (99-94). After a disqualification in the opening round, Nicollette Gino came back with an 88 on Tuesday.
“I’m proud of the girls and the way they finished the season,” said Pace. “It was a tough year, but they played through adversity all season. I’m thankful for the contributions our seniors made to the program and look forward to continuing to work with our players who are returning.”
Grand Canyon won the tournament with a score of 647 (325-322) and Dixie State’s Haley Dunn won the individual title with a 151 (74-77).
