TURLOCK, Calif. --- California Baptist University opened the 40th Hanny Stanislaus Invitational in 13th place Monday.

With 36 holes completed, CBU shot 317-322 to sit 11 strokes back of the Top 10 in a loaded field.

“We just couldn’t find our rhythm today and those scores reflect that,” said CBU Head Coach Lane Pace. “It’s a tough field to make ground in, but the guys are capable of it. We just need to focus on putting up a good number tomorrow and gaining some momentum going into the PacWest Championship.”

The Stanislaus Invitational is CBU’s final tournament before playing in the conference competition next week in Phoenix.

Neil Hand led the Lancers with a 156, going 75-81 on the day to post one of just three scores in the 70’s for CBU.

Micah Machado finished at 160 (78-82), Glenn Hakes posted a 162 (86-76) and O'Neill Cowan shot 163 (80-83) to round out the counting scores for the Lancers.

Tournament host and 15th-ranked Cal State Stanislaus currently leads the tournament with a two-under 574. Four of the top five teams in the field are nationally ranked.
