The Lancers took the opener 12-1 in five innings and then came back to shut the Sea Warriors out 7-0 in the late game. The two wins help CBU take three of four overall from HPU to kick off the team's Hawaiian road swing.
A day after closing Friday's doubleheader with an 11-run game, the Lancers offensive explosion continued into the team's second day of play against the Sea Warriors as CBU blasted 13 hits to score its 12 runs in the early game.
Sloan McHann once again got the hit parade going, driving in CBU's first run on a single as the Lancers would put up a pair of runs in the opening inning. McHann was 2 for 4 with three RBI to lead the team.
CBU added on four more runs in the second inning and then sealed the deal with a six-run fifth.
HPU's lone run in the bottom of the fifth wasn't enough to prolong the contest.
Belinda Renne took the win, throwing all five innings and giving up just six hits and just one run. Renne moves to 4-1 on the year.
It took all of three innings for the fireworks to start in the late game when Rachel Meyer blasted a three-run homer to put CBU up 3-0. RBI singles from Savannah Miller and Andie Banuelos gave CBU a five-run third inning and a commanding lead.
Two more runs and the right arm of Jessica Avila were all CBU needed from there on out. Avila tossed a six-hit complete game shutout to seal the win and move to 6-4 on the year.
McHann was 2 for 2 in the late game with an RBI to give her six hits and four runs driven in on the day. Meyer was 2 for 4 with three RBI and Miller went 3 for 4 with an RBI in game two.
The doubleheader sweep moves the Lancers to 11-8 overall, 5-5 PacWest and drops the Sea Warriors to 8-8, 1-5.
