RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- California Baptist University suffered a rough start to its 2013 conference season, getting swept in a doubleheader by Notre Dame de Namur.

The Lancers dropped the opener 10-5 and then couldn't find a rally in the second game, falling 5-3 in both teams' first conference matchup.

The Lancers gave up a six-run seventh to the Argonauts and couldn't overcome it, scoring three in the final frame.

Sammy McConvey threw all seven innings for NDNU, giving up eight hits and five runs for her third win of the season. She is now 3-0.

McConvey also helped her own cause at the plate, blasting a pair of homers and driving in three runs.

Sloan McHann smacked a two-run shot as part of CBU's three run seventh and had an RBI single earlier in the night to go 2 for 4 with three RBI. Rachel Meyer and Ashley DeVaere also drove in runs for the Lancers.

Belinda Renne suffered her first loss of the season in the opener, falling to 3-1.

In the late game the Lancer bats again never woke up. CBU fell behind 3-1 early, but never took the lead.

The Lancers pushed a run across in the fourth on a Savannah Miller triple, but NDNU countered with a pair of homers in the top of the fifth.

Shelby Reali took the win for the Argonauts, throwing all seven innings to move to 2-0. Jessica Avila gave up 10 hits and three earned runs to move to 1-3 for CBU.

The losses drop CBU to 4-5 overall and 0-2 PacWest. NDNU moves to 7-2, 2-0.

The Lancers are back in action tomorrow as they host Academy of Art in another conference doubleheader.
