The Lancers used a dominating first half run and then held off a push by the Sea Lions late to hold on for the 86-70 victory.
CBU held the Sea Lions scoreless for over seven minutes midway through the opening half as part of a 24-2 run that turned a 6-3 PLNU lead into a 27-8 Lancer advantage at the 6:08 mark.
Holmes helped kick off the run by hitting a pair of threes to put CBU up 11-6. She scored all of her first half points during the stretch.
"We have really been defending well lately and I thought we did a good job on them early," said Olson. "We got out on their shooters and got them out of their rhythm. That was big for us and set the tone for the game."
PLNU shot just 28.6 percent from the floor in the first half and hit just 1 of 10 3-pointers. No Sea Lion player scored more than four points in the opening period.
The Sea Lions cut the lead to 10 late in the game, but Amy Browne hit a pair of jumpers as part of a 6-0 run to put the Lancers back up 66-50. PLNU never got any closer than 13 the rest of the way.
Holmes led CBU with 20 points and three steals in the game and Hicks added 15 points. Qualls also reached double figures scoring 10 and grabbing seven boards. Lesley Vodicska and Browne led the way in the rebounding category with nine each.
The Sea Lions put just one player in double digits as Callie Rhoads scored 20 on 8 of 16 shooting.
"We've just been setting goals and taking the season in chunks lately," said Olson of his team's nine game winning streak. "We've been taking it little by little and that's been working for us so far. We have a couple tough games left and we need to stay focused and keep it going."
The Lancers have two games left on the regular season, heading to Azusa Pacific next Thursday and then closing at Fresno Pacific the following Saturday.
CBU moves to 19-5 overall, 13-3 in the PacWest with Thursday's win, while PLNU falls to 13-11, 9-7. The Lancers sit just a game behind Grand Canyon in the loss column atop the PacWest standings.
