The Lancers fired a 338 in the first round, sitting just eight strokes outside the Top 10.
"This is a solid start for our first round back after the winter," said CBU Head Coach Lane Pace. "We're ahead of several teams and still have a chance to make a run at the Top 10. We've improved some from where we left off in the fall and that's good to see."
The Lancers finished ahead of two other PacWest teams in the 20 team field. Grand Canyon and Sonoma State are currently tied for the lead at 315.
Nicollette Gino led the way for CBU shooting an 80 (42-38) on the day. Gino sits tied for 14th individually.
"Nikki (Gino) did a great job leading us today," said Pace. "She played well and anchored the team, we needed that."
Katherine Pimpanit (85), Kirsten Keyser (86) and Samantha Peters (87) finished out the counting scores for the Lancers.
The final round tees off tomorrow morning.
