A week of inaction, however, saw CBU drop back down to No. 14 in the poll before wins over UC Irvine and Concordia bumped the Lancers to No. 13. Another week of inaction saw CBU fall back to No. 14. This season marks the first time the Lancers have been eligible for the AVCA/NCAA coaches' poll.
THE SERIES - The Lancers are 1-11 against Long Beach State and 1-5 against Cal State Northridge since they began playing each program in 1999. Last season CBU played the two teams in back-to-back matches in late January as well, falling in three sets to the 49ers and in five to the Matadors. CBU's lone win against Northridge came in 2000 and the program's win over LBSU came in 2010. Both were on neutral courts.
