Game Notes, Jan. 27-Feb. 2

THIS WEEK - No. 12 CBU comes off an early-season bye week in MPSF play to take on two conference foes. The Lancers host No. 7 Long Beach State on Tuesday and then have a quick turnaround as No. 9 Cal State Northridge comes to town on Wednesday. After the 10 day break, CBU now has at least two matches a week until the second to last week of the season. CBU is coming off an up and down 2-2 week. The Lancers played their first ever MPSF match at home, defeating defending NCAA Champs UC Irvine in a five-set comeback. The Lancers then followed that up with a loss to No. 12 UC San Diego and went 1-1 in matches at Concordia.

TICKET INFORMATION - Tickets for Tuesday and Wednesday's home matches against Long Beach State and Cal State Northridge are available for the general public. Tickets are $5 for general admission and $3 for children under 12, non-CBU students with ID and CBU alumni. Parking on campus is free to the general public during athletic events. Gates open at 6 p.m.

LIVE COVERAGE - CBU will have live coverage of the team's home matches this week on cbulancers.com, just follow the JOIN NOW link under the luxury box on the front page of the website for payment and login information. Live stats of the match will also be available under the multimedia tab on the front page of cbulancers.com.

IN THE RANKINGS - CBU started the season ranked No. 15 in the AVCA/NCAA Division I-II poll and after a 2-1 week at the UC Santa Barbara Asics Invitational the Lancers moved up to No. 12 in the second poll of the year. A week of inaction, however, saw CBU drop back down to No. 14 in the poll before wins over UC Irvine and Concordia bumped the Lancers to No. 13. Another week of inaction saw CBU fall back to No. 14. This season marks the first time the Lancers have been eligible for the AVCA/NCAA coaches' poll.

THE SERIES - The Lancers are 1-11 against Long Beach State and 1-5 against Cal State Northridge since they began playing each program in 1999. Last season CBU played the two teams in back-to-back matches in late January as well, falling in three sets to the 49ers and in five to the Matadors. CBU's lone win against Northridge came in 2000 and the program's win over LBSU came in 2010. Both were on neutral courts.
