DALLAS, Texas --- Despite earning the most first place votes, California Baptist University fell just short of the top spot in the most recent National Collegiate Wrestling Association coach's poll. The Lancers ranked second just behind Lindenwood University-St. Charles.
Zach Merrill (21-6) is ranked as the eighth best individual wrestler in the entire NCWA and second at 285-pounds. Taylor Hall (17-6) is ranked seventh at 125-pounds, Alex Anunciation (7-4) is third at 133-pounds despite not wrestling since Nov. 30.
Bradford Gerl (20-5) is not only leading the Lancers in dual wins, but he is also leading all NCWA wrestlers at 141-pounds, he is ranked No. 1 with a NCWA score 17 points higher than the No. 2 wrestler.
Dylan Cataline (12-6) and Kenneth Tribble (9-13) are also ranked in the top-10 of their weight class.
CBU will have two chances this week to attempt to regain the top spot, as they spend Friday and Saturday in Prescott, Ariz. for the Mile High Duals and Mile High Open hosted by Embry Riddle Aeronautical University.
