In the Lancers first ever season as part of the NCAA Division I-II power conference, Cabral is the first player awarded the weekly honor for the 2013 season.
CBU's senior outside hitter led the Lancers at the UC Santa Barbara Asics Invitational, posting a team high 4.82 kills per set and 1.45 digs per set. Cabral added five aces and four blocks. He posted his best match of the week in a bounce-back contest against No. 10 Loyola-Chicago with 24 kills, while hitting .600, along with six digs.
It was in that 24-kill performance that Cabral eclipsed the program's career kill mark, surpassing Shamsu Awudu's 1,502 career kills. Cabral now has 1,532 kills in his career after CBU's first three matches, with an entire season of MPSF play sitting in front of him.
The Lancers beat two Top 10 opponents on the week, defeating then No. 10 Loyola-Chicago and then No. 5 Lewis at the early season invite helping the team move up three spots in the latest NCAA D I-II poll. The Lancers' only loss was to No. 1 UC Irvine. CBU's next match will be a rematch with the defending NCAA champs on Jan. 16 at home.
