LEXINGTON, Ky. --- The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) released its NCAA Division I-II Preseason Coaches' Poll and in its first season eligible California Baptist University was tabbed 15th.

The Lancers tallied 23 total points in the poll, sitting just five points behind No. 14 George Mason.

CBU is in its third season of transition to NCAA Division II competition and begins its first season of competition in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF).

MPSF teams own 10 of the 15 spots in the preseason poll including the No. 1-4 rankings. Defending NCAA Champions UC Irvine took top billing in the rankings, garnering all 16 of the first place votes. BYU sits second, Stanford is No. 3 and Pepperdine holds the No. 4 spot.

CBU finished last season 12-16 in its first season of NCAA Division I-II play, competing as an independent as the school transitioned from the NAIA. The Lancers were accepted into the MPSF in January.
