DALLAS, Texas --- The National Collegiate Wrestling Association released its coaches poll rankings on Dec. 11, California Baptist University is number one in the nation.

The Lancers received five first place votes to get the top spot right in front of Lindenwood University-St. Charles, Liberty University and, the only other team to receive a first place vote, University of Maryland-Baltimore County.

CBU earned this ranking because of the strong individual performances from their wrestlers. Six Lancers are ranked in the top-15 in their respective weight classes. Zach Merrill is ranked second at 285-pounds and ninth overall.

Other wrestlers in the top-15 of their class are: Taylor Hall, 13th at 125, Alex Anunciation, third at 133, Bradford Gerl, first at 141, Dylan Cataline, third at 149 and Kenneth Tribble, sixth at 174.

CBU looks to hold onto their top ranking at their next dual, against Colorado School of Mines, Jan. 3 at 7 p.m. in the Van Dyne Gym.
