The defending champion Lancers earned an automatic bid to the tournament last Saturday, winning the west region final 1-0 over Point Loma. CBU will open tournament play against No. 7 Palm Beach Atlantic on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 9 a.m. (PST).
"We're excited to return to the NCCAA National Tournament to compete for and have an opportunity to defend our National Championship," said CBU Head Coach Kristen St. Clair. "This is a battle of the best teams in the country and we'll certainly have our work cut out for us against great competition."
The tournament is held Nov. 28-Dec. 1 in Kissimmee, Fla. The semifinals/second round are Thursday and the championship/consolation finals are Saturday (Dec. 1). All teams will play three games.
CBU enters the tournament 15-2-1, having already won its second consecutive PacWest title. The Lancers won the aforementioned west region as the top seed, getting a first round bye before hosting Point Loma.
"Our daily preparation will remain the same as it has all season," said St. Clair. "The coaching staff is extremely proud of the work the players have put in over the last year to put this team in a position to be successful and compete for the National Championship."
The Lancers are entering their eighth straight postseason and are making their fifth straight national tournament under St. Clair. The Lancers swept through their three tournament games last season en route to a 2-1 win over Trinity International in the finals. CBU also entered last season's championship at 15-2-1, but were the top seed in that tournament.
Judson comes in as the top ranked team in this year's field after a 17-5 season. The Eagles earned an at-large berth to the tournament.
