RIVERSIDE --- California Baptist University was given new life late Sunday when it learned that it had received the lone at large berth to the 2012 National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Men's Soccer National Championship.

The tournament is Nov. 28-Dec. 1 in Kissimmee, Fla.

CBU, the defending champion, earned an at-large berth by having the highest LONGO rating among all non-automatic qualifiers. The Lancers are the second-seed in the eight-team field and will play Roberts Wesleyan (10-8-1) Wednesday (Nov. 28) at 9 a.m. (Pacific).

"We are excited to have the opportunity to go back to Florida and be a part of the national tournament," said CBU Head Coach Ryan Jorden. "We had a great time last year and we look forward to the opportunity to continue to play and grow as a team."

The semifinals/second round are Thursday and the championship/consolation finals are Saturday (Dec. 1). All teams will play three games.

The Lancers enter the tournament at 13-5-2 overall, having lost 3-1 to Fresno Pacific in the NCCAA West Region Finals Saturday. The Sunbirds are the tournament's top seed.

CBU is making its fifth straight postseason appearance and third straight national tournament appearance. Last year, the Lancers won all five of their postseason games, including all three at the NCCAA National Championships, including a 2-1 win over NCAA Division III Geneva in the finals.
