With the Lancers already having the conference championship locked up earlier in the week, CBU finished the regular season with a 1-0 win over Grand Canyon.
CBU edged out Azusa Pacific for the PacWest title with a total of 39 points on the conference season. The Lancers finish with an overall record of 14-2-1, 13-1 in the PacWest.
"We really wanted to end the season on a good note tonight," said head coach Kristen St. Clair. "This was one of the hardest fought victories we have had all year. The girls did an amazing job working through some adversity to get the result we wanted."
CBU closed the year with 10 straight victories, putting the Lancers one win away from tying the program win streak record of 11. The Lancers have outscored opponents 29-4 during that streak.
CBU outshot the Lopes 17-9 in the contest, but just five total balls were put on target (three for the Lancers, two for GCU) during the defensive struggle.
Allard's fifth goal of the season was one of those on target shots, as she blasted a shot that glanced off GCU keeper Shelby Bartusek and found the back of the net. Bartusek tried to corral a CBU cross, but fumbled the ball leaving it for Allard to clean up.
Allard had four total shots in the game, second only to teammate Bernadette Witz's five. Two of Allard's were on goal.
Rosie Nakata earned her fifth shutout of the season in the win, making the two necessary saves.
As a team CBU has held opponents scoreless seven times on the season.
"Everyone did their job tonight," said St. Clair. "Kim Allard was great up top, our midfield did an excellent job holding possession and our back line kept them quiet. This was a great team effort against a tough opponent. It was a great win to get especially going into the postseason."
The Lancers now await the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) West Regional Tournament pairings to be released later this week. The Lancers are the defending NCCAA National Champions.
