REDLANDS, Calif. --- It may not have been much of a drive, but it has been a long road for California Baptist University to earn their 15th win this season.
The Lancers made the short trip to Redlands on Saturday, picking up a 9-3 win over the Bulldogs.
CBU has had an up and down season, with a lot of great wins, but some difficult losses as well. The win on Saturday solidifies their ninth straight 15+ win season.
It was a great day today," said head coach Rick Rowland. "We played some stellar defense and got some excellent two-meter play."
The two-meter men, Matt Puig and David Ring, each scored as many goals as the entire Redlands team, three. They led the Lancers in goals and were joined by Scott Gleason, two, and Cameron Custance, one.
The defense and goalkeeping highlighted a strong win for CBU, who shutout the Bulldogs in the second and fourth quarters.
"We played great frontcourt defense today and our two-meter men played well on offense and defense," said Rowland.
Austen Ramer played well in one of his final collegiate games, finishing with 10 saves, six steals and an assist. Ramer holds every major goalie record in program history except multi-steal games and multi-assist games.
The Lancers are now 15-10 on the year and ranked No. 20 in the Collegiate Water Polo Association varsity national rankings.
CBU has three games remaining in the 2012 season as they finish up at the Lancer Aquatic Center next weekend. They will face No. 11 Loyola Marymount on Thursday, Concordia on Friday and Fresno Pacific on Saturday.
