RIVERSIDE --- California Baptist University hit the water for the second straight weekend by hosting and competing in the University of Redlands Swimming Invitational.

The CBU men came in second today out of six teams, finishing with a total of 390 points.

Several Lancer men stood out on the day with Brian Haney finishing third overall out of 23 swimmers in the 200 free (1:47.87). Haney also placed third in the 200 IM for the Lancers.

Mike Perry came in third out of 22 swimmers in the 100 back, with a time of (54:32.0) and also finished second in the 50 free (21.79).

Sergio Molina had a pair of first place finishes in the 200 IM (1:57.22) and the 100 breast (56.59).

Other top finishers included Josh Collison who came in eighth out of 23 swimmers in the 500 free with a time of (5:02.48), Derek Wedel who finished second overall in the 200 fly with a time of (1:58.58), and Taylor Kile who placed second out of 14 swimmers in the 200 back with a time of (2:00.35).

Grand Canyon University won the meet with 446 points.


The CBU women finished in second out of six teams as well with a total of 321 points.

Molly Larson placed fifth out 23 swimmers in the 100 breast with a time of (1:11.06) and placed fifth in the 200 breast as well with a time of (2:32.86)

Ali Barnes was right behind Larson in both the 100 breast and 200 breast, placing sixth in both of those races.

Hazel Castillo had a big day finishing second in the 200 fly (2:13.00), third in the 100 fly (1:00.36), and fifth in the 200 IM (2:17.39).

Kyndal Terwilliger, Ashley Weedman, and Anna Megli finished four, five, and six in the 500 free and helped combine a total of 30 points in that race.

Other notable performers were Natalie Heihn who finished 12th out of 29 in the 100 back (1:07.00) and Hannah Evans who came in sixth out of 29 in the 50 free (25:25).

Miranda King placed second in the 3M diving with a score of (202.10) while Kari Carlson placed third, and Sonata Dalimot placed fourth.
