SAN RAFAEL, Calif. --- California Baptist University made it 2-0 on its brief two-game Bay Area swing, defeating Dominican Saturday on a late first half goal.

Bernadette Witz headed home the only score of the game with just 14 seconds remaining in the opening period, giving the Lancers all the offense they needed for the 1-0 win.

"It's always tough to play on the road and I thought today we were a little unlucky on our finishing opportunities, but still we were able to get the result we wanted against a solid opponent," said head coach Kristen St. Clair. "Overall I was very happy with the way we closed this game out and kept them scoreless."

The Lancers have not allowed a goal in their past six games, outscoring opponents 18-0 along that stretch.

Kimberly Allard sent a cross into the box as the first half wound to a close and Witz got a head on it to tally her team leading 11th goal of the season. Allard is tied for third on the team in points with 12.

From there it was a defensive battle as both teams kept each other out of the net in the second half.

Rosie Nakata got her fourth shutout of the season in the win, making five saves along the way. Nakata is now 9-1 in goal this year for the Lancers.

The Penguin's Megan Herring made four saves in goal as CBU took 13 shots and put five on target. Dominican had just six shots in the game.

The win moves CBU to 10-2-1 overall, 9-1 (27 points) PacWest. Dominican falls to 6-6-1, 5-4-1. The Lancers travel home for their next three contests.
