Witz runs her team leading season goals total to 10 with the pair of scores, setting a new career high in the process. She is now second in the conference in goals scored, just one ahead of teammate Kelly Jenks.
"Bernie has really been an engine in the middle for us all season," said head coach Kristen St. Clair. "She came in fit and prepared from day one and just works hard every day to put herself and her teammates in a position to win."
CBU got on the board soon after the opening whistle as Witz finished a cross from the left side in the ninth minute. Kimberly Allard fed Witz on the goal to record the assist.
Fifty minutes later the junior from Temecula, Calif. struck again, burying a second half penalty shot after Lindsay Vesling was taken down on a breakaway.
CBU keeper Rosie Nakata picked up the shutout victory in the game, making two saves on six Argonaut shots.
The Lancers peppered Argo goalie Carrie Turgeon with 15 shots in the game, putting nine on target.
"We did a great job controlling this game from start to finish which is not easy to do on the road," said St. Clair. "We maintained a good pace of play and that's something we need to carry over as we go into Saturday's game. This was a good, consistent team performance."
The win moves the Lancers to 9-2-1 overall, 8-1 (24 points) PacWest, while NDNU falls to 5-8-1, 4-5-1 (13 points).
CBU stays in the Bay Area to face Dominican on Saturday.
