RIVERSIDE --- California Baptist University artfully dodged its first losing skid of the season, rebounding from Thursday's loss with a 3-1 victory over Academy of Art Saturday afternoon.

The Lancers got goals from three different goal scorers for the fourth time this year. They improve to 8-3-1 overall, 6-2-0 (18 points) PacWest.

The Urban Knights fall to 2-9-1, 1-6-1.

Alex Anderson had a goal and an assist to lead the Lancers.

CBU struck first in the 40th minute when Chase Magdaleno played a perfectly placed ball to the far post. Anderson headed it back into the middle, and Cole Schmit ran onto it and tapped home his third goal of the season.

The Lancers, who dictated play and held a 10-1 advantage in shots in the first half, carried the one-goal advantage into the intermission.

Less than five minutes into the second half, Anderson got on the end of a Marc Hope service and extended the lead to 2-0 with his fourth of the season.

Michael Salazar then put away his first goal of the season in the 80th minute, finishing off a cross from Josh Robinson to give the Lancers a 3-0 lead.

The Urban Knights got on the board with a goal from Thorvaldu Sveinsson, who put home a rebound from a shot by Grimur Grimsson in the 82nd minute. Those were the only two shots on goal by the Urban Knights the entire game.

The Lancers out-shot the Urban Knights 19-6 and had a 7-2 margin on goal.
