ST. GEORGE, Utah --- California Baptist University went on the road for the first time in four matches Friday and got a 3-1 (25-21, 19-25, 25-19, 25-17) win over Dixie State.

Ingrid Carmona led the charge in Utah, leading all players in the match with 19 kills.

"Ingrid was great all night, but she really turned it on in the third and fourth set," said CBU Head Coach Branden Higa. "She was doing everything we expect her to do on a nightly basis. She was playing great defense and gave us a ton of offense. We needed her down the stretch."

After the Lancers and Red Storm split the first two sets, CBU used mid-game runs to take over in the next two to take over and close the match.

Carmona blasted six kills in the third set as the Lancers took a six-point win. CBU was helped by a match-high 11 Dixie State errors in the final game.

CBU out-hit the Red Storm .252-.136, posting seven more kills and seven less errors in the match.

Malika O'Brien tallied nine kills on a .500 hitting percentage and Faith Steinwedell led the Lancers with 15 digs.

"It's always good to go on the road and get win in conference," said Higa. "This was a nice step towards a big match we have coming up against Grand Canyon."

The Lancers move to 11-2 overall, 4-0 PacWest, while Dixie State falls to 3-7, 1-3.

CBU takes on No. 13 Grand Canyon in matchup of PacWest heavyweights next Friday at home.
