RIVERSIDE --- California Baptist University enters the 2012 cross country season in a position to do something no Pacific West Conference team has ever done--sweep the men's and women's conference titles two straight years.

The defending PacWest champions open the season and its repeat quest at the UC Irvine Invitational Sept. 8 with the first of four regular-season meets on this year's docket.

"We are very excited about this schedule," said first-year Head Cross Country and Distance Track Coach Ben Gall. "We are looking forward to hosting our own home meet, the Lancer Invitational, for the first time. That and the other meets on the schedule combine to give us an ideal mix of smaller and larger invitationals to prepare to defend our men's and women's PacWest championships and make a run at the NCCAA National Championships two weeks later."

The Lancer Invitational is Sept. 22 at Rancho Jurupa Regional Sports Park, and the Lancers conclude the month at the prestigious Stanford Invitational Sept. 29.

The regular season finishes up Oct. 6 at the UC San Diego Invitational before the PacWest Championships (Oct. 27) in Honolulu, Hawaii, and the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Championships (Nov. 11) in Cedarville, Ohio.

The Lancers return nearly every piece of their 2011 conference champion men's and women's teams, both of whom also finished in the top five at the NCCAA Championships.
