Now he can add one more title to the resume. Marnati has been named The Press-Enterprise OnCampus men's player of the year, which is awarded to the top male collegiate athlete within the readership area of the PE.
Marnati, who became the team's full-time designated hitter this year, relished the role and put together his most productive seasons in his three-year career. Marnati hit .352 with 74 hits and a career-best 24 doubles to go along with 53 RBIs, 51 runs and 11 stolen bases.
Heading into his 2013 senior campaign, Marnati, who is one of just seven players in program history to have 200 career hits, needs 46 hits to become the program's all-time leader with 274. He also needs just 18 runs, five doubles, 56 RBIs, 94 total bases and 47 games to become the program's all-time leader in those categories as well.
CBU finished the 2012 campaign 43-13 overall, its third straight 40-win season. The Lancers also won the NCCAA World Series and the Pacific West Conference title, their third straight conference crown.
