The Lancers opened the tournament with a 290, sitting three shots behind No. 4 Cal State Stanislaus for the lead. CBU then fired and 304 in the afternoon and is currently tied with St. Martin's and Cal State San Bernardino for eighth.
"Overall I'm pleased with how the guys played today," said CBU Head Coach Lane Pace. "Some of the best teams in our region and in the country are in this tournament and we're still in contention for a strong finish. We may have struggled a little bit in the afternoon, but our very strong first round kept us in it."
The Lancers had three players shoot par or better in the first round and one in the second 18.
Chris Rabbich leads the Lancers with a 146 (72-74), followed by O'Neill Cowan at 147 (76-71). Rabbich and Cowan sit tied for 13th and 19th respectively.
Micah Machado shot 150 (71-79), Glenn Hakes posted a 152 (72-80) and Neil Hand finished at 156 (75-81).
Cal State Stanislaus still leads the field sitting seven strokes up on the nearest team at 569.
"We're making strides as a team and I think today showed where we can be," said Pace. "Now we just need to get back at it tomorrow and go after the solid finish."
