BELLINGHAM, Wash. --- Traveling up near the Canadian border, California Baptist University opened its season at the Western Washington Invite Monday, currently sitting in 12th place.
The Lancers shot 312-310 in cold conditions Monday, to finish three strokes out of the Top 10 with one round to play.
CBU was led by Micah Machado through the first three rounds, who shot 71 and 76 to sit in a tie for 19th place.
Chris Rabbich (82-76) and Glenn Hakes (78-80) each posted a 158 for the Lancers and Marshal McBroom (81-79) rounded out the kept scores with a 160.
The Lancers sat in 10th after the first round but couldn't keep pace as the scores dropped around them in the afternoon.
Tournament host Western Washington leads the Invitational shooting a 568 (284-284) on the first day. PacWest member Hawaii-Hilo is in second at 578 (296-282).
The final round of competition tees off tomorrow.
