RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- California Baptist University's Jennifer Mallen has been named NCCAA Women's Cross Country National Athlete of the Week.
Running as a Lancer for her first time, Mallen finished 15th overall out of 168 runners at the UC Irvine Invitational this past Saturday. Her time of 18:07.1 was just three seconds shy of the CBU 5K cross country record. Mallen helped lead her team to eighth place out of 14 teams.
The junior ran three seasons at Concordia University, Irvine prior to transferring over to CBU this year. She was very successful at Concordia, achieving All-GSAC in 2009 and 2010, and was an NAIA All-American in 2010 as well.
Mallen runs again on Sept. 22 at the Lancer Invitational.
