CLAREMONT, Calif. --- Jonathan Garcia scored a second-half goal to help California Baptist University salvage a 1-1 tie at NCAA Division III No. 15-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Thursday night.

The Lancers, who allowed a goal for the first time this season, move to 2-0-1 overall. The Stags are now 1-0-1.

CMS outshot the Lancers just 16-15 and struck first in the 15th minute on a goal from Jared Bernstein, carrying a 1-0 lead into the intermission.

Garcia, though, drew the Lancers level with an unassisted equalizer in the 60th minute. Neither team scored again in the final 30 minutes of regulation and 20 minutes of overtime.

Joey Pacheco made seven saves.

The Lancers return to action Monday night in Phoenix when they take on NCAA Division II No. 1-ranked and defending national champion Fort Lewis at 7 p.m.
