Head Coach Lennie Zalesky has put together a challenging schedule for the Lancers, who enter their Provisional Year in the NCAA Division II membership process.
"The team is looking forward to this year's schedule," said Zalesky. "We will be wrestling some of the best DII teams in the nation along with three DI dual meets. It will be an exciting and challenging year as we move closer to our DII inauguration."
In addition to the three DI matches, the Lancers will grapple with four DII teams that finished in the top 36 at last year's national championships, three of which were ranked in top 20 in the nation heading into the tournament.
The season begins Nov. 3 at the Stanford Duals in Palo Alto and concludes with the NCWA National Championships March 7-9, 2013. In between is a nice mix of duals, opens and invitationals promising to prepare the Lancers for a run at a second NCWA title in three seasons.
After the Stanford Duals, CBU will participate in three tournaments at Cal State Bakersfield, Menlo and in Las Vegas at the prestigious Cliff Keen Open Nov. 30-Dec. 1.
From there, the Lancers have a string of seven straight duals, beginning with a matchup at DI Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, which finished 25th at the DI National Championships last year.
The Lancers' home opener is Jan. 3 against DII Colorado School of Mines. Their only other homer dual is the final dual match of the year against Grand Canyon (Feb. 9). The 'Lopes finished fourth at last year's DII championships.
CBU will also participate in the Grand Canyon Duals (Jan. 5) as well as the Tracey Borah Duals (Jan. 12) hosted by Western State University in Gunnison, Colo. The Lancers have road duals at Colorado Mesa (Jan. 10), which was ranked No. 16 in the final DII poll, DI Cal State Bakersfield (Jan. 26) and DII San Francisco State (Feb. 1) just prior to the California Collegiate Open (Feb. 2) hosted by San Francisco State.
The Lancers will host the NCWA Western Conference Championships Feb. 23 as a qualifying tournament for the NCWA National Championships.
