RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- With a 49-6 record this season and a dominating run through the NCCAA National Tournament, it came as no surprise this week when California Baptist University Head Coach Bill Baber was named NCCAA Coach of the Year.

Baber, who took over the program this season after serving as an assistant for the Lancers for eight years, led the Lancers to their 10th straight 40-win season and ninth straight conference title.

The Lancers made a dominating run through NCCAA postseason play, sweeping two regional games against Hope International and then winning four contests in Botetourt, Va. to take home the program's first NCCAA title.

It was the Lancers' first season competing NCCAA postseason play, joining the organization this year as the athletics programs make the jump to NCAA Division II play and are currently ineligible for NCAA postseason play.

Baber becomes the first coach in program history to win a National Coach of the Year honor at any level.
