JOLIET, Ill. --- California Baptist University's distance track team is set to have seven runners compete at the NCCAA Outdoor National Championships May 3-5.
"We are very confident going in that the athletes are prepared to run well," said Head Coach Ben Gall. "It would be great to see them finish with national championships in their respective events. The goal is to walk away with every athlete being an All-American (Top 3) and to garner as many national titles as possible."
Jacquie Lutz will start things off Friday night as she will be the only runner for the Lancers competing in the 10k. Lutz has recorded the fastest time this year among the NCCAA competitors with a 36:57.64.
The six other Lancers will compete on Saturday. Both Naomi Van Setten and Bethany Bilton will run in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Van Setten is ranked first, while Bilton is ranked third in the event. Ashlee Cervantes will run in the 800-meter and is ranked first.
All three CBU men are ranked first in their respective events. Sergio Rodriguez will compete in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Chase Williams is set to run in the 800-meter, and Mitchell Moore will run in the 5k.
