BAKERSFIELD, Calif. --- In their last meet before PCSC championships, the California Baptist University women's team beat CSU Bakersfield but lost to Loyola Marymount while the men's team dropped one to Bakersfield.

The Lancers outscored the roadrunners 155-138 but trailed the Lions 161-129. The CBU men earned 110 points to CSUB's 174.

Mary Hanson was the day's elite swimmer for the Lancers, placing first in three individual races. In the 100 yard backstroke she finished with a time of 56.77 seconds. In the 100 yard freestyle, she recorded a time of 52.63 and came back later in the day to win the 200 yard IM in 2:08.96.

For the men, Chris Toy led the charge in the 100 yard butterfly, in which CBU finished 1 through 8 in the official results. Toy tallied a time of 51.69 seconds, followed by Tai Nuntapramote at 52.40 seconds and Jeremy Hayes in third at 53.29. Derek Wedel, Scott Butler, Robert Nichols, Tim Kothlow and Austin Aberle completed the final five spots.

Adriana Quezada, Hazel Castillo and Kyndal Terwilliger swept the very close women's 200 yard butterfly. Quezada finished in 2:10.08, followed by Castillo in 2:10.29 and Terwiliger at 2:10.83.

Brian Haney and Patrick Cardillo finished in the two top spots in the men's 200 yard IM. Haney finished in 1:57.11 followed by Cardillo's time of 2:03.80.

In diving, Trevor Graifman battled with CSUB's Troy Neklason in two close competitions on both boards. Graifman finished first on the 1M, scoring 297.35 points to Neklason's 294.60. Graifman lost a close one in the 3M, totaling 250.10 to Neklason's 251.30. Brandon Fries dived for the first time this season, finishing fourth on the 3M with 173.15 points.

Miranda King finished second on both boards, scoring 184.50 points on 1M and 195.80 on 3M. Sonata Dalimot finished third on 3M with 150.45 points and fourth on 1M with 141.85.

CBU took spots one and two in the men's 200 yard freestyle relay. The team of Nuntapramote, Butler, Jeff Babcock and Toy finished first in 1:26.56 with the team of Hayes, Wedel, Aberle and Spencer Shore pulling in second at 1:32.03.

CBU will have nearly two weeks off before the PCSC Championships starting Feb. 8 in La Mirada.
