SANTA CLARA, Calif. --- In their first overtime game since Sept. 2009, California Baptist University found a way to defeat Harvard in a 12-10 victory in double overtime, despite being plagued by a multitude of missed opportunities.

For the second straight day, Scott Gleason led the Lancers in scoring, with four goals, including the two go-ahead goals in the first overtime period.

With a 5-3 Lancer lead at halftime, Harvard matched CBU goal for goal in the third quarter but took over with three goals to the Lancers' one in the fourth quarter to force extra minutes.

Brent Troutman completed the hat-trick while Chris Toy also scored twice. Peter Hines, Scott Butler and Cody Wetherbee each scored one goal apiece.

Though figuring out a way to score, the Lancers did miss nearly 25 shots but maintained control of the game with 20 steals, including five from Trevor Rowland.

Goalkeeper Austen Ramer contributed five assists on counter attacks.

The Lancers continue on to the second day at the Santa Clara Rodeo Tournament Saturday, facing Brown at 9 a.m. and host Santa Clara at 2:20 p.m.
