IRVINE, Calif. --- Playing the first game back in its home state, No. 18 California Baptist University ran into a powerhouse in eighth-ranked UC Irvine, enduring a 16-2 defeat.

The Anteaters scored early and often Thursday, pouring in 10 goals before CBU could finally get on the board in the third quarter. UCI had three players record hat tricks in the contest.

Brent Troutman scored the first goal of the game for the Lancers, notching his fourth goal of the year in the third. Matt Puig scored CBU's only other goal in the fourth quarter. It was Puig's sixth of the season.

Trent Baxter, Mitch Wise and Max Parrague all had three-goal games for the Anteaters, who got offense from a total of nine players in the game.

Austen Ramer notched six saves for CBU and Dylan Vrooman, who replaced Ramer in the fourth, posted two. UCI got a total of 18 saves from its two goalies on the day.

After an impressive showing at the MIT Tournament in Boston last week, CBU falls to 3-1 on the year. UCI improves to 3-0. Things don't get any easier for the Lancers as they travel to face No. 1 USC on Saturday.
